COMMISSIONED BY CDF MONTEVIDEO AND ISTITUTO ITALIANO DI CULTURA
Commissioned work for Istituto Italiano di Cultura di Montevideo and CDF Centro de Fotografia de Montevideo developed in 2022 during an Artist residency in Montevideo. Two places so distant, so different, but linked by common roots: the Peñarol neighborhood in Montevideo in Uruguay, and the small Piedmontese town of Pinerolo in Italy. Two names that look alike and one person who has held them together from the start: Giovanni Battista Crosa, a Pineroles who immigrated to South America in the 19th century. But, can two worlds so different, two realities so far from, each other, dialogue with more than onecentury difference? "En lo profundo de sus raices, todas las flores contienen luz" is a visual investigation that tries to reflect on the identity of these places, giving life to an interweaving of images and a close dialogue, a story in fragments of their daily life and their communities.
